DutchChannels

DutchChannels is a full service media company that was established in 2016. We specialize in providing the smallest niches with quality streaming services. More specifically, we buy, edit, create and stream international films, series, documentaries and television shows. The goal of our rapidly growing team is to deliver a top-notch experience to our viewers.

Video on Demand Platforms

At the moment, we have four successful platforms for special interests; these are WithLove, TheaterThuis, Flixy and New Faith Network. We’re currently available in the Netherlands, in Belgium, in Norway and Sweden, as well as in the UK and Ireland. On top of that, we have promising pilot projects running in Australia and in New Zealand. By the end of 2020, we hope to have hit the mark of 100.000 subscribers.

Guiding projects

Since we are dealing with an increasing amount of platforms each with their own tone of voice, the amount of projects in IT, marketing and data engineering is growing. That is where you step in as Product Owner to guide us.

This is how you’ll contribute

Based on your interviews with stakeholders, you define a rough roadmap for the future on where you and DutchChannels want to go to! To set this up, you team-up with our tech lead (you become a duo). And where you cannot come to a decision, you consult the responsible MT member for a final decision. We work as practical as possible. From here on, you team up with the relevant members and run the project(s) smoothly.

Along the way, you make data driven decisions by use of both available tooling and the data analysts within our company. You determine smart goals and a feedback loop when implementing your roadmap.

To become successful, you:

  • Are able draw up a roadmap a) when, b) what will be built with c) associated lead time that serves as a basis for monitoring and adjusting progress;
  • Are able to prioritize the list of requirements in ‘MoSCoW’, with a balance between business objective and reality (time, budget, manpower, complexity, feasibility);
  • Able to draw logical conclusions by gathering information from various sources, making connections and translating this into metrics, KPIs and other measurable key figures;
  • Contribute actively and see the importance of regularly recurring sessions / workshops for backlog refinement;
  • Are able to understand the problem / objective of something, can translate this into your own work and take responsibility.

But most important to be successful, you master the ‘game’ of consultation with stakeholders and colleagues involved, whereby choices are made to arrive at the list of requirements and the prioritization of tasks are clear and supported.

Whom are we looking for?

Ideally you have 4 – 7 years experience, preferably gained in a Video on Demand environment without it being a must. You have a bachelor or master degree and a good understanding of the English language.

You are able to discuss views and idea’s with all team members taking into account their knowledge and experience. You understand the delicate balance between your tasks and the roadmap you are working on and the day to day task of team members as they not always are in sync. And of course you are not afraid the make (or suggest) decisions on what needs to be done in order to keep the backlog going.
